Syndicated Feed Development

Syndicated feeds, also known as rss feeds, have many benefits. Their goal is to provide your Website's news and generate a subscribers' list. There are basic - text only - feeds and more sophisticated feeds with pictures, see the images on this page. Like in the case of XML sitemaps, with syndicated feeds as well, the feed has to be uploaded to your Website's server and a line of code (invisible to visitors) has to be added to your Website's home page to alert search engine spiders to the presence of a feed which is available for indexing. Unlike with XML sitemaps, it is highly recommended that a link to your syndicated feed be added to your Website - or at least its home page - so your visitors can view (and subscribe!) to your syndicated feed. (A link to our own syndicated feed can be found in the footer of this page.)

Other than to generate a subscribers' list, why would you want to include feeds on your Website? Does the term "syndicated" ring a bell?... Properly managed feeds travel different venues than Websites, there are many feed directories out there eager to distribute your feed.

Better yet, most social networks provide the option of including your feed.... A syndicated feed can be a Website best friend, in particular when it comes to growing its traffic!

Often times, a feed attracts more visitors than the Website itself, effectively doubling its traffic. (In addition, feeds are frequently used in widgets, but that's a different story altogether...)

Practically speaking, there are Websites that are rarely updated and Websites that are regularly updated. The former need one feed that will last them for a long time. The latter, need a frequently updated feed which may need to be re-developed on a regular basis, management and submission as well.

To give you a general idea of the specifics:

  • Syndicated Feed Development is available to Website owners who have access (login) to their hosting account (FTP login). Please don't order a Syndicated Feed Development if you don't have this information.

  • Syndicated Feeds usually focus on 10-20 pages of a Website.

  • Syndicated Feeds with pictures cost more than text only feeds.

  • The cost of a one-time Syndicated Feed Development, upload and integration (link on your Website or its home page is not included unless your Website was developed by us) of a text only 10-20 pages of a Website syndicated feed is about $150

  • The cost of a one-time Syndicated Feed Development, upload and integration (link on your Website or its home page is not included unless your Website was developed by us) of a text and pictures (assuming your have the pictures available on your Website) 10-20 pages of a Website syndicated feed is about $225

  • There is one other variable to consider: Google (formerly FeedBurner) provides an excellent way of making your feed subscriptions and viral sharing easy. The service is free but requires a Google login. If you wish to have your syndicated feed processed by Google and can provide us with your Google login, we'll do the job for you for an additional fee of $25. (This process does NOT need to be repeated if and when the content of your feed changes; Google processes updates automatically.)

Since we don't know what category your Website belongs to (stationery or frequently updated), please fill out the form below. Once your request is reviewed, we'll be able to provide you with a more specific information as well as a price and the time required for developing your feed. We might be able to offer a different rate for a frequently updated feed, its management and submission.
